City & District Partners

The Somerville Partnership for Young Children works closely with our Somerville Public Schools and City of Somerville partners to ensure children have access to quality early childhood learning opportunities, and families are supported and empowered with information and resources over the first five years of each child’s life.

Somerville Public Schools

The Somerville Public Schools Department of Early Education and Care is committed to connecting all Somerville children to high-quality early education and care. With an anti-bias approach to policies and curriculum; their goal is to make sure all children and families are valued and that resources are distributed equitably. SPS runs several free, public preschool programs, and through the Somerville Partnership for Young Children, provides access to quality early education through community partners in a model called a mixed delivery system.

Somerville Family Learning Collaborative

The Somerville Family Learning Collaborative (SFLC) is the department of family and community engagement of the Somerville Public Schools. As a Coordinated Family and Community Engagement grant recipient, the Somerville Public Schools partners with the Department of Early Education and Care to provide a variety of resources, support services, and programs to help meet the needs of Somerville families in supporting their children’s learning and well-being, birth to adulthood.

SomerBaby

SomerBaby is a free and voluntary community program to welcome new babies to Somerville!

SomerBaby provides new parents with information and support when a baby is born. Each SomerBaby family receives a Welcome Baby Bag, a single home visit from a community liaison, a visiting nurse (if requested), information and support on breastfeeding, home safety information, and referrals to additional resources.

SomerPromise

SomerPromise is a community-wide effort that focuses on aligning and mobilizing resources to address the academic, social and environmental factors that affect student success. SomerPromise is committed to equity and excellence in children’s lives during and out of school, from cradle to career.
